Why does the application require so much information?

We ask you health and personal questions so that the underwriters can have a clear picture of your health and lifestyle while determining your insurability. Some of the information collected during the application process is used to verify your identity, but it is also used to expedite the underwriting process. This is part of what makes applying with Ethos much faster than a traditional paper application. To identify you, in part, we will ask for your Social Security number, driver license number, and credit card to help verify and protect your identity and to ward against insurance fraud. We want to make it easy for you to get insurance, but difficult for anyone who may be committing insurance fraud by trying to assume your identity. You will find that no matter how you shop for life insurance, you will be asked to provide this same information.

Finally, we ask you about your income and other insurance coverage you may have to help determine your coverage needs and eligibility. Once you are approved, we will let you know if you qualify for more insurance or if lessor insurance may be a better fit for your situation. At that point, you make the final decision regarding your coverage term, coverage amount, or the monthly premium you are most comfortable with.
