If you qualify, your temporary coverage will begin instantly while you wait for a final decision on your application. You’ll pay a premium based on the amount you were quoted—but it won’t end up costing anything. Here’s how:
Instant coverage means you can start protecting the people who depend on you right away.
How does temporary insurance work?
Eligible applicants will be offered temporary coverage at their monthly premium rate. If your application is approved, it won’t cost you anything because this amount will be credited toward your first full premium(s). If your rate increases, you will only need to pay the difference.
Is temporary insurance different from my full policy?
Yes. Your temporary insurance covers you with the same amount of coverage (up to $1M) as the policy you applied for. The difference is that the temporary policy covers you only for the duration of the underwriting process until your full policy is approved (for a maximum of 45 days). In other words, you’re covered while waiting for your policy to be approved. The temporary policy ends when your application is approved or denied.
Do I have to do anything with my temporary policy once my application is approved?
Nope. Once your application is approved, your temporary coverage ends and your full policy activates. It’s that simple.
How much does it cost to activate my temporary coverage?
You pay an amount equal to your monthly premium to activate your temporary coverage. The amount you pay will be used as a credit for the first month’s premium on your full policy, meaning your instant coverage will cost you nothing as long as your application is approved. If your application is denied, you will receive a full refund.
What happens if I pass away during my temporary coverage period?
A death benefit in the amount of the coverage that you applied for (up to 1M) will be paid only if your application is approved. In the event that your application is not approved, a death benefit payout will not be issued.
What happens to the amount paid to activate my premium coverage if I don’t accept my policy offer?
If you decide not to accept your offer, you’ll receive a full refund, no strings attached.
